About
The classical term "magnetic storms" is much older than the modern terms "space weather" (NSWC, 1995) and "space storms" (Daglis, 1997b; 1999a; 1999b): it was coined in 1808 by Alexander von Humboldt, the German naturalist and explorer who gamed attention by his expedition of South America in 1799-1804.
